Weak but persistent photographic image, a body of photographic work documenting an acute analysis on aesthetic and visual memory understood as social stratification of memories.

[OUT OF MEMORY] is the error message and warning that appears in a system when the memory is not sufficient nor consistent. At the same time, literally means something that is out of memory and not covered in the archive consists of the mental experiences.

Fratelli Calgaro processes so the idea of a pre-established memory,developing visually some of the issues advanced by the American writer Philip Dick in his novel The hunter of androids (1968): What is real and what is artificial, the tendency of humans to become more more like machines until they lose empathy for their turn to simulate reality, the relationship between subject and object, what remains of the Cartesian cogito ergo sum.

In [OUT OF MEMORY] alludes to a visual outline of which each of us is provided through shared images digitally, populating the search engines giving rise to a collective memory, a sort of unconscious Digital is not necessarily the result of individual experiences, but their yields as a function of the widespread notion that something exists (only) if I can see him playing in an image, even if only on a monitor.

This project examines the changing role of the photographic trace and its documentary function in the digital age, which is increasingly based on the appearance of "sharing", understood as an action that amplifies the communicative power of experience to a wide audience, and less to"remember", which is intended as a personal memory.
